











CHRISTOPHER MAKOS TITLE/MAKOS EYEGLASS’ DIPTYCH CANVASES
In New York, 1991, designers Roth & Domege invited their friend, American photographer and visual artist Christopher Makos, to create an oversized diptych — a painted canvas layered with silkscreened visions of their iconic Series 5555 sunglasses.

Christopher Makos (born 1948) is an American photographer and visual artist. He apprenticed with photographer Man Ray in Paris and collaborated with Andy Warhol, whom he showed how to use his first camera. Warhol called Makos the “most modern photographer in America”. Makos would eventually become a central and trusted member of Warholʼs inner circle. For this reason, he features heavily in the Netflix series The Andy Warhol Diaries. His work has been exhibited internationally, including the Guggenheim Bilbao and the Tate Modern in London.
